HELP! WHY ARE MY EYEBROWS FALLING OUT?

For every woman, appearance is very important and we would all like to have beautiful and lush eyebrows. Unfortunately, for many this is an unrealisable dream. Increasingly, many women are experiencing problems with eyebrow loss. What could be the causes of eyebrow loss and how can they be dealt with?

The eyebrows help protect our eyes by preventing fluids such as sweat and water from entering them. It is estimated that each person has around 400 or 500 hair follicles in their eyebrows. Normal loss is about 300 eyebrow hairs per year. However, if more fall out, the process is qualified as madarosis. Our genes also determine how many hairs we have in our eyebrows. As with the rest of the hair on our body, their growth is influenced by many factors, i.e. metabolism or nutrition.

EYEBROW PROLAPSE CAN BE RELATED TO :

  • With age and ageing,
  • Inadequate care, excessive use of cosmetics (e.g. castor oil), careless and inaccurate make-up removal, daily use of eyebrow shapers, henna or poorly performed eyebrow shaping.
  • Stress (excessive cortisone secretion).

EYebrow prolapse can also be associated with long-standing inflammatory conditions, as well as with diseases, e.g.

  • Seborrhoeic dermatitis caused by fungi and overproduction of sebum, which can lead to dandruff even on the eyebrows.
  • Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that causes an excessive proliferation of skin cells, where red, thick, scaly patches form. In turn, this blocks the hair follicles and stops hair growth.
  • AD, or atopic dermatitis, causes redness, itching, oozing and irritation. Caused by a hypersensitive immune system.
  • Tinea capitis.
  • Contact dermatitis caused by contact with an allergen or toxic agent.
  • The human ringworm, or nematode, is a parasitic mite that feeds mainly in the hair follicles of the eyelashes and eyebrows; typical symptoms are redness, burning, flaking of the skin.
  • Endocrine disorders : hypothyroidism (deficiency of thyroid hormones), menopause (corresponds to decreasing amounts of oestrogen and progesterone).
  • Eyebrow posterior alopecia (allopecia) that occurs with other diseases, such as Hashimoto's or colitis (autoimmune diseases).
  • Medications, e.g. for rheumatological conditions, as well as chemotherapy.
  • Sudden decrease in immunity, weakening of the body.
  • Vitamin and mineral deficiencies (Vit A C D E , Zinc, Vit B12 and B7, as well as omega 3 acids)

WHERE TO SEEK HELP?

There is no single effective way to deal with this problem. There are many methods, but each depends on the cause. It is best to see a specialist dermatologist or trichologist. It is worth doing various lab tests (blood count, thyroid hormones) or microscopic examinations for nematodes. Treatment depends on the condition; sometimes it is worth changing dietary habits or including supplementation. Multidirectional action gives the best results. It is worth reaching for pharmacy preparations stimulating eyebrow growth, castor oil, Vit A+E in capsules, biotin. In extreme cases, hair transplantation is possible.

WHEN ALL MEANS HAVE FAILED?

Permanent make-up is a very good solution, and the technique and method chosen properly can miraculously rebuild our eyebrows visually. Thanks to this procedure, we can make our dreams of perfect eyebrows come true and our appearance will become more attractive.
